Reasons Why I Love To Shop My Favorite Thrift Store…

It’s the thrill of the unexpected; I love the treasure hunt feeling. There’s something that makes you feel victorious when you spot an awesome item. I never know what I’m looking for, yet I always find just the right thing!

I love the thrill of digging around and finding something good. Once you find something great, you find yourself continuing to go back for the hunt. I love the serendipity of thrifting: it’s the universe at work!

My family likes to reuse items. It seems to help reduce the amount of mindless consumption. Giving clothes a longer, useful life appeals to me. Second-hand-shopping makes me feel good for environmental reasons. For example: I like being a little ‘green’. I love how thrifting lets you find that unique thing. I enjoy the idea of having a piece that’s individual! I just think it’s fun to own things that no one else has.

I’m really there to score the unique vintage items! I love those unique finds that make my wardrobe distinct. It’s unlikely someone else will have the same item. You can always find things there that you would simply never see in a store at a mall or in a catalog.

By shopping in a thrift store, I can better quality clothes at bargain prices! If I were not a thrifty shopper, I would never be able to afford items such as like cashmere. I’m able to afford a higher quality of clothing due to other peoples’ castoffs. I tend to find things I otherwise would not be able to buy, compared to the stuff in the stores from China.

There is some amazingly good quality in thrift stores! Mostly, you will find better made clothing. For the most part, older garments are lined and have better construction.

For my budget, I can afford the kind of design and quality I want. I like to have a lot of different clothes, and I love being able to breathe some life into my wardrobe for next to nothing! By shopping thrifty, I can continue building my wardrobe without incurring the wrath of my husband. Being thrifty entertains me for hours for very little money. For me, the process is as much fun as the end result!

I especially love thrifting trendy pieces since they are only likely to be temporary additions to my wardrobe. It makes shopping fun! I can go a few times a week and spend a tiny amount of money and come out with a goodie or ten. I like to refer to it as affordable shopaholism.

My consignment shop is locally owned. I know the money I pay goes to support a family. I can take my chances with my style at thrift store prices. I thrift for my kids all the time; clothes are my hobby and being thrifty means I can try lots of different things. It’s social… Emerging with awesome pieces makes me feel like I actually have a talent!

My body drastically changed when the fashion trend didn’t work with my body type. No driving to the city and dealing with shopping malls and not to mention, traffic. I'd personally, rather hunt the real thing than buy a mall store interpretation. I love old things because of the history that piece may have; no shoppers’ remorse.

Thanks!
